Set in a post-apocalyptic Pacific Northwest, deep in a danger-filled forest, two young men discover each other, learn to lean on each other, and fall in love. In a world where one’s worth is based on how much one provides, Jacob, small and weak and longing for purpose, ends up lost in the forest after bandits massacre his hunting party and kill his older brother. Left for dead, he is discovered by Isaac, a nearly feral young man who obsessively collects trinkets and garbage from the civilized era. Having lived alone in the forest since he was discarded by his father and step-mother on the eve of the economic and societal collapse 15 years prior, Isaac relates more to the nostalgic junk, his treasure, than he does to people. As the boys live together in the forest and learn to depend on each other to survive, Isaac learns to trust and relate to Jacob, and Jacob finds a purpose in caring for Isaac.
