Author Stephen King has responded to 23 of his books being banned from elementary, middle and high school libraries in Florida.
The ban stems from a 2022 law signed by Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, aimed at restricting books with sexually explicit content.
The 76-year-old writer recently tweeted, “Florida has banned 23 [of] my books. What the f**k?”
King has written several notable novels, including 'The Shining', 'It', and 'The Green Mile,' all of which have been adapted into films.
DeSantis' decision to sign House Bill 1069 was prompted by complaints from the conservative group Moms for Liberty.
House Bill 1069 has led to the banning of hundreds of books since 2023, a move that has been widely opposed by authors and major publishers.
‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ by Mark Twain, ‘Brave New World’ by Aldous Huxley, and ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ by Anne Frank have also been banned.
