Khalid has responded to the "crazy" drug and escort accusations from an ex-partner, who he claims outed him as gay. The incident began when another musician, Hugo D. Almonte, made allegations about having a past relationship with the singer. In a Rolling Stone statement, Almonte claimed Khalid "tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship". In a series of posts on X, Khalid officially came out as gay by posting a rainbow flag emoji and told his fans to move on to the "next topic please lol". A few days after the 'Location' singer came out as gay on X, he shared a four-minute video addressing the allegations made in Almonte's since-deleted posts. The singer clarified, "I've never done cocaine a day in my life. I don't place myself in those scenarios. I'm not in those surroundings". Khalid added, "I smoke weed, and I drink a little bit, but I've never done cocaine a day in my life".
