James Lee Williams, best known as drag queen The Vivienne and the first winner of 'RuPaul's Drag Race UK,' has died at the age of 32.
Williams’ publicist, Simon Jones, confirmed the British drag queen’s passing in a statement shared on Instagram.
"It’s tragic that their career was only just beginning. In musical theater Viv had found a space and career they loved, excelled and thrived in. I am heartbroken and devastated by this news," said Jones.
The drag queen had been starring as the Childcatcher in a UK tour of the stage musical 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and was set to perform until late March.
Williams was a beloved member of the drag and musical theater communities, and news of their death has prompted tributes from other celebrities.
Tia Kofi, who won season 2 of 'RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World,' called Williams’ death "an incredible loss to the British drag community."
