'Emilia Pérez' star Karla Sofía Gascón is facing backlash on social media after several posts from her X account about Muslims, George Floyd, & diversity at the Oscars recently resurfaced.
Gascón recently made history as the first openly transgender person to be nominated for an Academy Award in any acting category.
Journalist Sarah Hagi recently highlighted several posts made by the actress between 2020 and 2021.
"Islam is marvelous, without any machismo. Women are respected, and when they are so respected they are left with a little squared hole on their faces for their eyes to be visible and their mouths, but only if she behaves. Although they dress this way for their own enjoyment. How DEEPLY DISGUSTING OF HUMANITY," wrote the Oscar nominee in a 2020 X post.
In another post, she expressed concern over the number of women at her daughter's school wearing head coverings and suggested that the school would have to start teaching Arabic.
