The cause of death of UK drag star The Vivienne has been confirmed as a cardiac arrest triggered by ketamine. The Vivienne, whose real name is James Lee Williams, passed away suddenly in their home at just 32 years old. Williams’ sister, Chanel, disclosed their cause of death to the BBC to raise awareness about the dangers of ketamine use. Williams, who won the first series of 'RuPaul’s Drag Race Uk' in 2019, was vocal about their history with drug use throughout the show. "Ketamine is an extremely dangerous drug that is becoming more and more prevalent in the UK, if we can help raise awareness of the dangers of this drug and help people who may be dealing with ketamine addiction then something positive will come from this complete tragedy," explained Chanel. The Vivienne was described as a “shining beacon of light for the LGBT community,” by their family. Williams’ family has partnered with the mental health and addiction charity Adferiad to support and educate those affected by ketamine use.
