Growing seeds seems simple, but growing indoors can be challenging. Here are the five most common problems beginner face and how to fix them.
Lack of Light
Indoor plants need more light than we often realize. Weak, leggy seedlings with thin stems are a sign of inadequate light. To fix this, add additional or stronger lamps that run for 14-16 hours daily.
Too Much Light
Too much light can also harm seedlings, causing scorch marks. Use traditional bulbs rather than LEDs or move your lamp further from the tray to fix this.
No Germination
Some seeds just won't germinate, but checking expiration dates and planting at the correct depth, as stated on the packaging, will give them the best chance for germination.
Too Much Water
Overwatering is a common issue, often signaled by yellowing leaves and a foul smell. Seedlings need minimal water to survive, encouraging them to grow in search of more.
